Meadow can’t catch a break. In 2012, she was rear ended at race practice and fractured a vertebrae. After lots of home therapy, she made a full recovery and went on to earn obedience titles, as well as another LCM. On November 15, 2015, she went down at race practice. She was paralyzed. She had suffered and FCE, which is like a stroke in the spinal cord. A piece of debris shoots from the spine and damages it. She spent two nights at the U of M, and on day 3, she as able to walk with the aid of a sling.
I am very well versed on rehabbing dogs, so we spent that winter and spring getting her back. She is retired from competition, and will always have a very pronounced hitch at the walking gait. However, she still can free run like she did before, and it hasn’t hindered her hunting abilities! She’s still my number 1 hunter, with an unknown amount of rabbits and squirrels, plus a couple coons, coyote, fox, cat and now 2 possums. Nothing will stop the Fugs!!
